A thoughtful delivery, step by step
When should flowers arrive at a funeral home?
By GoFloristGo · Flower delivery planning · Updated
Use the receiving deadline confirmed by the funeral home or actual venue, rather than the service start time. Ask when staff can accept the flowers and how much setup time is needed. The florist must confirm that the selected arrangement can meet that destination-local window.
Confirm three different times
The service start, the latest acceptable flower arrival and the earliest staffed receiving time can all differ. Write each one down in the venue’s local time. The useful delivery window is between staffed opening and the confirmed receiving deadline, not simply any time before the ceremony.
- Service or visitation date and start time.
- Earliest time a named receiving desk or contact can accept flowers.
- Latest arrival deadline that allows the venue to prepare the display.
Ask before choosing an earlier day
Delivering the day before may sound helpful, but the venue must agree to receive and hold the arrangement. Ask about its staffing, storage and any other events. An unattended doorway is not a substitute for that agreement.
If there are several visitations or services, say which event the flowers are for. The first event’s schedule may determine the receiving deadline even if you were originally given a later ceremony time.
Treat same-day delivery as a question to confirm
A general same-day label or order cutoff does not establish that a tribute can arrive before a particular funeral. Product preparation, florist capacity, travel and the venue’s handoff window all matter. Tell the florist the actual latest arrival time before committing to the order.
If the deadline cannot be confirmed, consider a later family-home gift with the family’s agreement. Do not accept an estimated arrival after the event as though it were the service delivery you requested.
Check the destination’s local clock
When ordering across states, use the clock at the venue. Some states have more than one time zone, and daylight-saving rules differ. Confirm the facility’s zone if it is uncertain rather than using your phone’s current location.
On a clock-change date, an early-morning time can be repeated or skipped. If the receiving window involves such a time, ask for an unambiguous alternative and confirm the actual timing with the venue and florist.
If the service details change
Contact the seller as soon as you learn of a new venue, date or time. Give the revised details through the order’s support process and ask for confirmation of what can still be done. A saved instruction or message is not itself acceptance of the change.
GoFloristGo’s preparation screen checks that the entered arrival deadline is before the service and has not passed. It does not reserve florist capacity or confirm a receiving appointment. Those operational checks must follow before a delivery is accepted.
Common questions
How many hours before a funeral should flowers arrive?
There is no universal number. Ask the actual venue for its receiving window and setup deadline, then have the florist confirm it can meet that window.
Can flowers be delivered the day before?
Only if the venue agrees to receive and hold them then. Confirm staffing and storage instead of assuming earlier delivery is always possible.
Does a same-day option guarantee arrival before the service?
No. A service delivery needs acceptance of the specific venue, arrangement and receiving deadline, not just a same-day category or general cutoff.
