Which Lafayette hospitals do you deliver get-well flowers to?
+
Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center at 1214 Coolidge Boulevard in the Oil Center. Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center at 4801 Ambassador Caffery Parkway, and Our Lady of Lourdes Women's & Children's Hospital on the same parkway — please tell us which, because they are two separate hospitals and "Lourdes" does not distinguish them. Ochsner Lafayette General Southwest on West Congress Street, the former University Hospital & Clinics. Park Place Surgical Hospital on Wilson Street and Lafayette Surgical Specialty Hospital on Kaliste Saloom for short surgical stays. Outside the city, St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge, Iberia Medical Center, Abbeville General, Opelousas General and American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
Will the floor actually accept the flowers?
+
Usually, with two exceptions worth knowing before you order. Cut flowers are generally refused outright in intensive care and in neonatal units, so for a NICU patient at Our Lady of Lourdes Women's & Children's the delivery goes to the family rather than the room. Vermilion Behavioral Health on North University Avenue does not permit flowers on its units, and glass containers are out entirely — send a card there instead, and we will say so rather than take an order that gets refused at the door. For an oncology or ICU patient anywhere in the city, ask for the arrangement lily-free and free of pollen-shedding stems, or the nursing station will hold it in the corridor.
How do I get a delivery into the Coolidge Boulevard campus?
+
Give us the patient's admitted name and the unit or room, and understand that the Oil Center is dense. Ochsner Lafayette General's patient tower on Coolidge is surrounded by medical office buildings that carry the hospital's name over the door but have their own front desks, and a piece handed to a physician's receptionist does not reach a bed upstairs — recovering it costs most of a day. Parking on those 1950s office-park streets is thin, so a driver may circle before finding a spot, and valet at the main entrance is often the practical drop point. Late morning is the best window, before afternoon procedures and before the 4:30 traffic on Johnston and Ambassador Caffery.
My relative is at Lourdes on Ambassador Caffery. What do you need?
+
Which Lourdes. Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center at 4801 Ambassador Caffery Parkway takes the adult medical and surgical patients; Our Lady of Lourdes Women's & Children's Hospital, on the same parkway, takes the maternity and pediatric ones. Send us the admitted name, the hospital, and the room or unit if the family has passed it along. Ask for a morning delivery if you can: the walk from those parking lots to the patient entrance is long and shadeless, and an arrangement that rides through a Lafayette afternoon in a hot vehicle between stops does not arrive looking the way it left the cooler.
The patient has been discharged or transferred. Now what?
+
Tell us and we will redirect rather than deliver to an empty room. Short surgical stays at Park Place on Wilson Street and Lafayette Surgical on Kaliste Saloom often end before a next-day order arrives, and recovery then happens at home in Broussard, Youngsville, Carencro, Milton or Scott, where a delivery is easier and the flowers last longer anyway. Transfers are a real Lafayette pattern: patients needing specialty care frequently move to New Orleans or Houston. If your person has been moved to Texas, our Houston page routes to florists who deliver into the Texas Medical Center, and sending from here to there through the wrong city just wastes a day.
Can you deliver to the hospitals in Breaux Bridge, New Iberia, Abbeville, Opelousas or Crowley?
+
Yes, inside the 60-mile radius. St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge, Iberia Medical Center in New Iberia, Abbeville General, Opelousas General Health System and American Legion Hospital in Crowley are all reachable, but each is a dedicated trip rather than one stop on an existing route, so same-day is possible and next-day is more likely. From October into the winter, sugarcane trucks on the two-lane roads through Vermilion, Iberia and St. Landry parishes add real time to those drives. Order as early in the day as you can, and give us a cell number for family on the ground in case the patient has moved rooms.
