Flowers for Greenfield, OH

Greenfield is a Paint Creek village founded in 1799 by General Duncan McArthur, sitting on the seam where Highland County meets Ross — roughly an hour from Columbus, Dayton, and Cincinnati in every direction, which is exactly why it kept its own small-town character instead of dissolving into a metro. The village runs off Jefferson and Washington Streets, past the limestone churches the old quarry helped build, out to the neighborhoods that grew up around Edward Lee McClain's remarkable 1915 high-school complex — still the town's signature landmark. Adena Greenfield Medical Center handles the local health traffic, so get-well and maternity deliveries are a regular part of the week. Delivering here is less about traffic and more about knowing the two-county grid; once a driver has the village mapped, nothing in 45123 is more than a few minutes out.
