Every October, Circleville hands its downtown over to the Pumpkin Show — one of the largest fall festivals in the country — and for a week the round courthouse square disappears under crowds, floats, and the smell of pumpkin everything. That square is the town's whole identity: Circleville was platted inside a perfect circular Hopewell earthwork, and though the mound is long gone, Roundtown kept the round-cornered courthouse at its center. Court Street and Main Street carry the downtown, the Scioto River runs the west edge, and OhioHealth Berger Hospital sits out on North Court. Flower deliveries key off those fixed points year-round — the square's one-way loop, the school-zone stretches near the district campuses, the hospital's visiting hours — with the one predictable disruption being that October week when downtown shuts to traffic and every route has to reroute around it.
