Delivering romance to students is its own craft. On-campus residence halls run through a front desk, so the address is the hall name and the room number and the recipient's full name as the university has it — a street address gets a driver to the right quad and no further. The off-campus complexes along Northgate, Luther Street, Holleman Drive South, Harvey Mitchell Parkway and the Rock Prairie Road corridor are gated far more often than not, with leasing offices that close mid-afternoon and package rooms that will not take a vase of water. Put the gate code, the building and the unit number in the notes, and above all put a mobile number on the order: a driver stopped at a call box who can text the recipient completes the delivery in a parking lot, and a driver who cannot goes back to the shop with your roses. One more thing specific to this city — the August move-in and May move-out weeks rewrite a large fraction of these addresses, so confirm the current unit rather than reusing the one from last semester.
For the non-student half of the market the geography is ordinary and the rules are local. College Station houses run through the Southside Historic District and the streets off Dexter and Park Place, Wolf Pen Creek, then the 77845 side — Edelweiss and Edelweiss Gartens, Emerald Forest, Nantucket, Woodcreek, Indian Lakes, Pebble Creek, Castlegate and Castlegate II, and the new Midtown Reserve and Greens Prairie streets below William D. Fitch Parkway. Over the line, Bryan's romance routes work the Traditions streets by Lake Walk, then Austin's Colony, Copperfield, Miramont and the old blocks off Main Street downtown. Hotel rooms take a real share too. Century Square on University Drive East keeps The George and Cavalry Court a few steps from dinner; the Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center stands on Joe Routt Boulevard, inside the campus perimeter; Lake Walk in Bryan has The Stella Hotel; and the same University Drive East strip carries the Hilton, Embassy Suites and Hyatt Place. What every one of them has in common is that flowers stop at the desk: unless the guest has cleared room entry ahead of time, the property phones upstairs rather than opening a door for anyone. Put the reservation name on the order, and plan for a check-in surprise rather than a walk-in one.
