The towpath is the reason. The Delaware Canal runs the whole length of Bucks County from Bristol up to Easton, and the stretch through Yardley — flat, shaded, water on one side and the river on the other — is the most-walked romantic mile in the county. People propose on it. People walk it the morning after. It is also why a romantic delivery here so often ends up at a house rather than a restaurant: the date is outdoors and free, and the flowers are what is waiting when the two of you get back. That shapes the order more than any venue does. If the plan involves the towpath, Lake Afton in the middle of the borough, or the path north along River Road toward Washington Crossing, do not try to have flowers meet you out there. Have them at the door, timed for an hour after you set off, and let the walk be the walk. Every driver on this grid can find a Main Street, Afton Avenue, College Avenue or Canal Street address without a second look; almost none of them can find two people on a towpath.
Proposals here follow a short list of places, and each one has a delivery answer that is not the obvious one. The stone tower on Bowman's Hill in Washington Crossing Historic Park, five miles up River Road in Upper Makefield, gives the long view over the river that ends up in the photograph — but it is parkland with gates and hours, so the flowers belong at the car or at home, not on the hill. The riverbank at Washington Crossing itself, where the McConkey Ferry Inn still stands and the Christmas Day reenactment draws a crowd every year, is the same story. Lake Afton is a two-minute walk from Yardley Florist at 175 S. Main St., which makes a late-afternoon drop at a borough address genuinely practical. Core Creek Park at Lake Luxembourg in Middletown and Tyler State Park outside Newtown are both inside the radius and both work the same way: park delivery is a bad idea, a doorstep two hours later is a good one. And if the answer is yes, a second delivery the next morning to the other family's house — in Morrisville, Fairless Hills, Newtown or across the bridge in Ewing — lands better than a phone call.
