Weekday birthdays here are overwhelmingly office birthdays, and downtown West Palm Beach has changed shape enough in the last few years that the desk-drop map is worth spelling out. Phillips Point at 777 S Flagler Drive is still the marquee address, twin towers hard on the Intracoastal with a security desk that logs deliveries. Esperante Corporate Center at 222 Lakeview Avenue, Northbridge Centre at 515 N Flagler Drive, CityPlace Tower on Okeechobee Boulevard and the newer 360 Rosemary tower in Rosemary Square carry most of the rest — the last of those is the anchor of the finance migration that brought Elliott Investment Management's headquarters, a Blackstone office and a Goldman Sachs office to this downtown. Public-sector volume is just as steady: the Palm Beach County Governmental Center at 301 N Olive Avenue, the main judicial center at 205 N Dixie Highway and the Paul G. Rogers Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse at 701 Clematis Street all take deliveries through a lobby or a screening point rather than at a desk. Palm Beach Atlantic University at 901 S Flagler Drive and Florida Crystals, headquartered downtown, round out the core. North of the city the Pratt & Whitney campus on Beeline Highway and the office pockets along PGA Boulevard in Palm Beach Gardens sit at the far end of the ring. The rule for all of them is the same: a full name, a floor or suite, and a department or firm name. A security desk on South Flagler will not go hunting for a first name.
Evenings and weekends the five shops turn residential, and West Palm Beach's residential map is unusually layered for a city this size. El Cid, Flamingo Park, Grandview Heights and Prospect Park (33401 and 33405) are the historic bungalow and Mediterranean-revival blocks between Dixie Highway and the water, with real front porches and short driveways — the easiest handoffs on the board. SoSo, the stretch south of Southern Boulevard along Olive and Dixie in 33405, runs the same way. Northwood and Northwood Hills (33407) sit north of downtown off Broadway. West of I-95 the character changes completely: 33409, 33411, 33413, 33415 and 33417 are where the county's condo and gated-community density lives, and that is where delivery instructions matter. Century Village off Okeechobee Boulevard in 33417 is a gated 55-plus community of hundreds of buildings addressed by letter — without a building letter and an apartment number a driver can circle for twenty minutes. Golden Lakes, Bear Lakes, Breakers West west of the Turnpike and Ibis Golf & Country Club off Northlake Boulevard in 33412 all run manned gatehouses that need the recipient's name on a list or a phone number the guard can call. Downtown, the Flagler Drive high-rise line — The Bristol at 1100 S Flagler among them — receives at a front desk or a concierge, not at a unit door. Out west, Wellington (33414), Royal Palm Beach (33411), Greenacres (33463 and 33467), Lake Worth Beach (33460 and 33461) and Palm Springs are straight suburban runs for the four shops based out there.
