Flowers for Watertown, WI

Watertown grew up as a mill town on the Rock River, and the river still organizes the place: Main Street crosses it on the bridge downtown, the older east-bank and newer west-side neighborhoods face each other across the water, and the whole city lands almost exactly at the midpoint of the Milwaukee-Madison drive. That location gives it a bit of both worlds and a couple of odd claims to fame — the Octagon House on the bluff and the site of the first kindergarten in the country. For a florist, the geography is friendly: nothing in the city is far from anything else. The recurring runs are Watertown Regional Medical Center on the west side, the funeral homes handling services on both banks, the offices along Main and West Main, Maranatha Baptist University on the south edge, and the residential streets fanning out toward Ixonia and the county line.
