Flowers for Washington, NC

Locals call it Little Washington, and they will tell you it earned the name honestly: this was the first town in the country to take George Washington's name, chartered in 1776 where the Tar River widens into the Pamlico. That river is still the center of gravity. The downtown historic district steps right down to a waterfront boardwalk, and the streets behind it — Main, Market, Second, Water — hold the antebellum homes, the churches, and the shopfronts that give the town its rhythm. Flower orders here split between that walkable historic core and the wider county: the ECU Health Beaufort campus on West 15th, the neighborhoods off Smallwood and Brownlea, and the long two-lane routes out toward Bath, the oldest town in the state, and across the river to Chocowinity. Coastal-plain weather and river geography set the pace, so a driver plans an afternoon around bridges and boardwalk traffic as much as around the address.
