Can you deliver to me at the Pier or on the beach for a proposal?
+
No, and it is better to hear that now than at 7:30 on the night. We deliver to addresses with someone to receive them: a house, an apartment lobby, a hotel front desk, an office reception. A park bench on the Bayshore, a spot on the St. Pete Pier, a stretch of sand at Pass-a-Grille and a restaurant table you have not been seated at yet are none of those. For an outdoor proposal, have the flowers delivered to your own address earlier the same day, or arrange a pickup with the bench. If the proposal is in a hotel room, that we can do — deliver to the desk in the guest's name and let the property place it.
Should I send flowers to the restaurant or to the house?
+
The house, almost every time, because downtown St. Petersburg is walkable. Beach Drive, the EDGE District and Grand Central are a strip you park once for and then walk, so a bouquet handed to a restaurant has to sit on a host stand through a whole service and then be carried around for an hour. Deliver at five instead and the flowers are in water at home before you leave, which is better for the flowers and easier for everyone. If the evening involves a room rather than a table, use the hotel desk — give us the guest name and a mobile number, and the property will place it on its own schedule.
How does Valentine's Day work on a grid this size?
+
Plan it like a small market, because it is one. Five benches cover this whole peninsula, February 14 concentrates the entire city's demand into one day, red roses hit their annual price peak, and delivery windows widen to most of a day. Order two or three days ahead, take a morning window, and consider a designer's-choice romantic arrangement rather than roses specifically: on this grid a well-built mixed piece ordered on the 11th beats a dozen roses ordered on the 13th by a wide margin. Say on the card what you would actually say out loud — it is hand-written at the bench and it is free.
What does a romantic arrangement cost here?
+
The listed arrangements in this selection start at $45.51. Delivery charges, taxes and optional extras are confirmed for the selected florist and recipient before payment.
Can you deliver to St. Pete Beach, Treasure Island or Pass-a-Grille?
+
Yes, and morning is the answer. The barrier islands are served by one road, Gulf Boulevard, with the Treasure Island Causeway drawbridge and the Johns Pass bridge as pinch points, and the late afternoon puts everyone leaving the beach onto that road alongside everyone arriving for dinner. Pass-a-Grille at the southern tip is the sunset destination, which is exactly the hour you do not want a van in that traffic. Hotel and condo front desks along the strip receive reliably; give us the property, the building, the unit or guest name and a mobile number, and book before noon whenever the timing matters.
What should I write on the card?
+
Whatever you would say if you were standing there, and we write it by hand exactly as you give it to us, unedited. Two St. Petersburg notes. This city has one of the largest Pride celebrations in the Southeast and a large LGBTQ+ population, so a great many of these orders are for two women or two men — give us both names as you want them to appear and nothing gets assumed. And if the flowers are an apology rather than a celebration, say the thing rather than gesturing at it; a specific sentence on a small card outperforms an expensive arrangement with "thinking of you" on it, which is a fact about people, not about flowers.
It is a surprise and my partner will be home. How do you handle that?
+
Tell us the situation in the notes and we work around it. If the recipient must not see the driver, the standard move is a delivery to a neighbor, to a building front desk, or to your own address at a time you specify. Downtown towers on 1st Street South and Beach Drive run desks that will hold an arrangement without calling upstairs. In Historic Kenwood or the Old Northeast, where many houses use a rear alley garage as the working entrance, name the door you want used and the one you do not. A mobile number for you, rather than for the recipient, is the right contact on a surprise order.
Do the summer months change what I should order?
+
They change the build and the hour. From June into September an afternoon on a west-facing step will finish a cut arrangement in under an hour, and the daily storm pattern reroutes drivers, so book the morning and name a shaded spot or a neighbor if nobody is in. Ask for roses paired with lisianthus, stock, alstroemeria or carnation, which tolerate a warm van; be wary of hydrangea, which is beautiful and the first thing to wilt in this climate. A weighted vase beats a tall narrow one, because the arrangement will get moved at least twice before it settles anywhere.
