Can I send sympathy flowers same-day in Salt Lake City?
+
Same-day options depend on the delivery ZIP, requested date, florist availability and that florist's local cutoff. Check the available options before paying; a city listing does not guarantee delivery today.
Why is the delivery address a house-style street address instead of a funeral home?
+
Because most Salt Lake funerals are held in a ward meetinghouse — a neighborhood chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints — rather than in the mortuary's own chapel. The mortuary runs the service, the transport and often the viewing, but the building belongs to the congregation and carries no business signage. Ask the family for the chapel's street address and the name the service is listed under, then include both on the order. Our studios deliver to ward buildings constantly and know that the stand has to be set before the viewing opens, which is usually an hour to ninety minutes ahead of the service itself.
Which Salt Lake mortuaries and cemeteries do you deliver to?
+
Larkin Mortuary on East South Temple, Larkin Sunset Lawn on the 1300 East bench and Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy; Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary on South Highland Drive, where chapel and cemetery share one property; Starks Funeral Parlor on South 900 East; Jenkins-Soffe in Murray and South Jordan; Goff Mortuary in Midvale; the Memorial Estates Redwood Road and Mountain View properties; and Neil O'Donnell and Sons downtown. Cemeteries: the Salt Lake City Cemetery in the upper Avenues, Mount Olivet on East 500 South near the University of Utah, Fort Douglas Post Cemetery, and the Utah Veterans Cemetery at Camp Williams in Bluffdale. Russon Brothers in Bountiful and Lindquist's across Davis and Weber counties are inside the radius.
What sympathy arrangement is appropriate for a Latter-day Saint service?
+
A standing spray or easel arrangement for the chapel and foyer, a casket spray if the family has asked you to provide it, and a vased design for the family room or the cultural hall where the luncheon is held. What to avoid is the cross: a cross-shaped tribute is standard at Catholic and many Protestant services but is not used in Latter-day Saint practice, since the Church does not use the cross as a symbol. White, cream and soft-green palettes are the safe default, though family-favorite colors are welcome and increasingly common. If you are not sure which piece the family still needs, say so on the order and the studio will call the mortuary before building.
Can you deliver to a graveside service at the Salt Lake City Cemetery or Wasatch Lawn?
+
Yes. The Salt Lake City Cemetery covers a large stretch of the upper Avenues and is one of the largest municipally owned cemeteries in the United States, so a graveside delivery there needs the plot or section from the mortuary — the gate address alone is not enough to find a service on a 250-acre hillside. Wasatch Lawn on South Highland Drive is the simplest case in the valley because the mortuary and the cemetery are the same property. Mount Olivet near the University of Utah, Fort Douglas Post Cemetery and the Utah Veterans Cemetery at Camp Williams all coordinate graveside timing through the funeral director, which our studios do directly.
How do other faiths and communities in Salt Lake handle sympathy flowers?
+
Catholic services at the Cathedral of the Madeleine on East South Temple, at Our Lady of Guadalupe on the west side and at the valley parishes take standard Mass tributes, cross and Sacred Heart forms included. Greek Orthodox families at Holy Trinity downtown and Prophet Elias in Holladay follow Orthodox practice with forty-day and one-year remembrances. The Jewish community around Congregation Kol Ami generally prefers donations in lieu of flowers, with a plant sent to the shiva home instead. Tongan and Samoan families in Salt Lake and West Valley City hold large multi-day gatherings — call the studio so volume and timing are planned. Latino Catholic families usually want full color rather than all white.
When should I order for a Saturday-morning service?
+
Thursday if you can, Friday morning at the latest. Saturday morning is when the great majority of Salt Lake funerals are held, which makes Friday the single busiest placement day of the week for both studios. A ward-chapel or cemetery address past the I-215 belt needs a slot in the morning run rather than the last stop of the afternoon. Read the obituary in the Salt Lake Tribune or the Deseret News for the viewing window, not just the service time — the viewing is the real deadline, since the arrangement should be standing before the first family member walks in. Sunday services are essentially not held here, so a Sunday-dated order will be scheduled for Saturday.
