Hotel Forty Five — Cotton Avenue
Downtown Macon's main hotel and the default anniversary address in 31201, a few minutes on foot from both Cherry and Mulberry Street shops. Front-desk deliveries are routine here — give the reservation name and the check-in date and the arrangement is waiting in the lobby rather than chasing a room number through a corridor
The 1842 Inn — College Street
An antebellum house on the College Hill side, small enough that the innkeeper takes the hand-off personally. That is an advantage: a delivery here is never left on a luggage cart. Call the reservation name through with the order, and if the surprise depends on timing, say what hour the couple is expected
Downtown dinner and show — Cherry Street, Mulberry Street Lane, the Grand
The Rookery and Dovetail on Cherry, the Downtown Grill in its Mulberry Street Lane alley, H&H on Forsyth, then the 1884 Grand Opera House on Mulberry or the Cox Capitol Theatre on Second Street. None of them is a good delivery address — small rooms, one host stand, no storage. Send to the hotel or the house and let the couple carry the flowers to the table
Intown porches — Vineville, Ingleside, Shirley Hills, Beall's Hill
Where most Macon anniversaries are actually celebrated: a dining table in a house somebody has lived in for thirty years. These are the streets where an arrangement is expected to last the week rather than the evening, so ask the designer to scale the piece to a table and to build it to sit low enough for people to see one another across it
North Macon — Bass Road, Zebulon Road, Rivoli, Wesleyan Hills
The 31210 half of the city, closest to Naturallycraftdga at 3902 Northside Drive. Newer subdivisions, the Shoppes at River Crossing retail cluster, and the Riverside Drive and Bass Road exits off I-75 where visiting family tends to stay. Straightforward runs, but they are runs — order them before noon rather than at the cutoff
Carlyle Place and assisted-living front desks
Golden-anniversary sends frequently go to a retirement community rather than a house — Carlyle Place on Zebulon Road among them. Deliveries stop at the front desk and staff carry them in, so the right design is low, stable and light enough for a resident to move: a side-table arrangement, not a floor piece
Landmark houses — the Hay House and the Woodruff House
When a Macon anniversary becomes a party of fifty, it usually happens at the Hay House on Georgia Avenue — the 1859 Italian Renaissance Revival house the city calls the Palace of the South — or at Mercer's Woodruff House on Bond Street. Both are minutes from the downtown shops, and neither is a good address for an unattended delivery: send the flowers to whoever is hosting, hours ahead, and let them travel with the family
Anniversary weekends on the river — Amerson River Park and Ocmulgee Mounds
Couples marking a date in Macon usually spend part of it outdoors: Amerson River Park on Riverside Drive, the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail along the water, the Great Temple Mound at Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park on Emery Highway, or Lake Tobesofkee west of town. Flowers go to the room or the house first, so they are not carried around all afternoon in a hot car
