Flowers for Gastonia, NC

Gastonia grew up on cotton — for decades it was one of the busiest textile-mill cities in the South, and you can still read that history in the York-Chester bungalows, the old spinning-mill shells off Franklin Boulevard, and the compact downtown around Main Avenue that has slowly filled back in with restaurants and the FUSE District ballpark. Today it is really the west anchor of the Charlotte metro: I-85 slices through the middle, commuters slide east into the city, and Crowders Mountain stands over the southwest edge for the weekend hikers. For flower delivery that mix matters. A single afternoon can hold a get-well run to CaroMont Regional on Court Drive, a birthday to a subdivision off New Hope Road, and a sympathy piece to a downtown chapel — three different corners of a spread-out county seat.
