Flowers for Fayetteville, NC

More than most cities its size, Fayetteville runs on the rhythm of Fort Liberty and the 82nd Airborne next door, and that rhythm shows up in the flowers. A steady share of the orders here are the long-distance kind: a soldier deployed overseas sending an anniversary bouquet home to Haymount, a family marking a homecoming, a get-well arrangement to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center when someone cannot get leave to be there in person. The delivery map wraps the base and the Cape Fear River both — the historic downtown along Hay Street, the Haymount hill above it, the Fort Bragg Road and Cliffdale corridors, and the growing south side toward Hope Mills. Traffic on All American Freeway and Skibo Road is part of the job, so shops plan routes around the base gates and the afternoon rush.
