Which of the nine shops will actually take my order?
+
Whichever one is closest to the door, and in Atlanta that follows the quadrant rather than the city limits. Downtown and the Peachtree Center hotels go to Eneni's Garden at 191 Peachtree Street NE, half a mile away. Midtown, Brookwood and the Piedmont Hospital blocks go to Buckheadwrights on Peachtree Road. Druid Hills, Toco Hills and the Clifton Road corridor go to Peachtree Flowers on Briarcliff. The Westside is split between Designs Byttoc Floral on Chattahoochee Avenue and Florist Atlanta on Howell Mill. Decatur is Cr Florals, east DeKalb is Dream's Florist, East Point and the airport are Flower Cottageonmain, and anything past Vinings is Samantharose Designs on Windy Hill.
How late can I order for delivery today?
+
Same-day options depend on the delivery ZIP, requested date, florist availability and that florist's local cutoff. Check the available options before paying; a city listing does not guarantee delivery today.
It is April and my sister's allergies are miserable. Send flowers anyway?
+
Yes, but send them quietly. Atlanta's pine pollen season turns the city yellow for about three weeks in late March and early April, the count gets read out on the news, and nobody living through it is in the mood to separate what is blowing down Peachtree from what just arrived in a vase. The arrangement is genuinely innocent — florist stems are insect-pollinated and shed almost nothing into a room — but a bouquet built for perfume lands badly that week. Ask for no stargazers, no hyacinth and no heavy stock, and have any lily anthers removed before it leaves the shop. Every one of the nine will do that without being asked twice.
Will a bouquet survive an Atlanta porch in July?
+
Not for long. From June into late September the afternoon runs into the nineties with humidity behind it, and an arrangement sitting on a west-facing porch in Kirkwood, Grant Park or Cascade Heights is wilting within the hour. Two fixes, both free. Order in the morning so the drive happens in the cooler half of the day, and ask for hand-to-hand rather than a doorstep leave, which means putting a working mobile number on the order. If the house will be empty until evening, send it to the workplace instead — the office towers, the Perimeter campuses and the hospital lobbies are all air conditioned, and the recipient carries it home in a cool car.
I am sending to an office. Does it matter which part of town?
+
It changes who signs for it. The downtown and Midtown towers put everything through a ground-floor desk, so the employer name and the floor do more work than the department. Buckhead's towers add a badge-controlled lobby and the desk will often call up before releasing anything. Cumberland, Perimeter and the Cox, UPS and Home Depot campuses are spread horizontally across several buildings with a shared dock, and internal mail can add an hour between the signature and the desk. In all three cases, put the recipient's full name, employer, building and mobile number on the order. A first name and a tower alone is how flowers spend a day in a lobby.
A friend has just had a baby at Northside. What works?
+
Northside on Johnson Ferry Road has long delivered more babies than any other hospital in the country, so it is far and away the most common birth address on this page, with Emory, Piedmont and Emory Decatur behind it. Birth floors are much easier than intensive care or oncology, but the room is small and the surface is shared, so keep the arrangement low and the scent mild and skip anything that needs its own table. Put the mother's name exactly as the admitting desk recorded it on the order, plus the room if the family has passed it along. Buckheadwrights and Peachtree Flowers are the two shortest runs up to Johnson Ferry.
How do I know the address is inside your delivery range?
+
The eighteen miles are measured from the 30303 centroid downtown, and in a city wrapped in a ring road that lands unevenly. Inside: Sandy Springs and Dunwoody at the top, Chamblee, Doraville and Tucker northeast, Decatur, Avondale Estates and the near side of Stone Mountain east, East Point, College Park, Hapeville and Forest Park south, Smyrna, Vinings and the southern half of Marietta northwest. Outside: Roswell, Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Duluth, Lawrenceville, Peachtree City and Newnan. People say Atlanta and mean a metro of six million, so check the ZIP against the list before you assume the run exists.
