Flowers for Temperance, MI

Ask anyone here where the name came from and you'll get the whole story: a 19th-century landowner platted the community with a clause in every deed forbidding the sale of liquor, and the dry-town label outlived the rule to become the town's identity on the map. What sits there now is an unincorporated slice of Bedford Township tucked into Michigan's far southeast corner, close enough to Toledo that the nighttime glow on the horizon belongs to Ohio and a good share of the workforce crosses south each morning. Instead of a compact downtown, the community stretches along Sterns Road, Lewis Avenue, and Secor, with Bedford High and the township parks anchoring the middle and subdivisions spreading toward the farm edges. The practical upshot for a sender: a Michigan-side florist is usually nearer than a shipper would ever guess, and the delivery loops bend along the border rather than through any city grid.
