Here is a thing almost nobody who books an anniversary weekend "in Princeton" realises: two of the hotels they are choosing between are in Plainsboro. The Princeton Marriott at Forrestal sits at 100 College Road East and the Westin Princeton at Forrestal Village at 201 Village Boulevard, both inside the Princeton Forrestal Center, which is Plainsboro Township land that has printed a Princeton address on its stationery for forty years. That quirk has a practical consequence for you: a room delivery to either one is a short in-township run, not a cross-corridor trip, and it can be ordered late in the morning and still be standing on the desk before a mid-afternoon check-in. Across Route 1 in West Windsor, the Hyatt Regency Princeton at 102 Carnegie Center works the same way. Five miles west in the borough are the two rooms people book when they want the town itself — the Nassau Inn on Palmer Square, with the square's shops and restaurants outside the door, and the Peacock Inn on Bayard Lane, a small house where an arrangement genuinely transforms a room rather than competing with it.
Hotel deliveries follow one rule that saves most of the disappointment we see: the flowers go to the desk, never to the door. No hotel on this corridor gives a driver a room number, and no driver rides an elevator with an arrangement. What lands is an arrangement at the bell or front desk, logged under the reservation name with a check-in date — so put the name the room is booked under in the order, not the recipient's nickname, and add your own mobile so the desk can reach somebody if the booking spelling differs by a letter. If you want it waiting in the room rather than handed over at check-in, ask us to note that request; housekeeping frequently obliges and no hotel guarantees it, so treat it as a favour you might get rather than a service you bought. At the Forrestal properties the loading approach is off College Road East and Village Boulevard respectively, which is why an early-afternoon drop beats a five o'clock one — those roads feed Route 1 and they stop moving with it.
The other half of Plainsboro's anniversary volume has nothing to do with hotels, and it is the half we care about most. Princeton Windrows on Windrow Drive is a senior community inside the township; Merwick Care and Rehabilitation sits at 100 Plainsboro Road, next to the hospital campus; Meadow Lakes in East Windsor and the big Monroe Township communities — Rossmoor, Clearbrook, Concordia — are all inside the radius, with Thymefor Flowers at 19 E. Railroad Avenue in Jamesburg (4.6 on 99, 7.1 miles) and Christy's Florist at 336 State Rt. 18 in East Brunswick (4.6 on 101, 10.8 miles) closest to that side. A fiftieth anniversary in one of those buildings, where one spouse is in a rehab bed and the other visits daily, is a different order than a hotel drop: send it to the front desk with the resident's full name and unit, keep it low and stable so a walker or a bed tray does not take it out, and put the number of years on the card in words. Couples who married at the Princeton University Chapel and come back for the weekend, or who held the reception at TPC Jasna Polana or Forsgate Country Club in Monroe, are the same order with a happier address.
