Flowers for Pine City, MN

Almost exactly halfway up I-35 between St. Paul and Duluth, Pine City is the kind of stop most people know from the freeway sign and the gas stations at the exit — but the town itself runs back from the interstate to a genuine Main Street, a chain of lakes, and the slow bend of the Snake River. It is the Pine County seat, so the courthouse and government offices anchor the downtown, while the residential grid climbs the hill toward the schools and the older homes along Hillside. West and north of the center the map turns to water: Cross Lake and Pokegama Lake are lined with year-round houses and summer cabins, and a good share of the local flower orders go out to those lake roads for anniversaries, retirements, and get-well notes. Between the downtown, the lake shore, and the commercial strip at the interchange, a delivery afternoon here means one careful driving loop rather than a dozen quick metro hops.
