Orinda sits in the Lamorinda hills of Contra Costa County, just east of the Caldecott Tunnel on Highway 24, where the East Bay opens from Berkeley and Oakland into the wooded hills toward Walnut Creek. It is an affluent, low-density town of hillside estates, the Orinda Country Club area, the small Theatre District and BART village, and the Glorietta and Sleepy Hollow neighborhoods along winding roads off Moraga Way and Camino Pablo.
