Can I send get-well flowers same-day to an Irvine hospital?
+
Same-day options depend on the delivery ZIP, requested date, florist availability and that florist's local cutoff. Check the available options before paying; a city listing does not guarantee delivery today.
Which hospitals around Irvine do you deliver to?
+
Inside Irvine: Hoag Hospital Irvine at 16200 Sand Canyon Avenue, Hoag Orthopedic Institute on the same street, Kaiser Permanente Irvine Medical Center in 92618, and City of Hope Orange County's cancer campus near the Great Park. Just outside: UCI Medical Center on The City Drive South and CHOC on West La Veta, both in Orange 92868; Hoag Hospital Newport Beach; Fountain Valley Regional Hospital on Euclid Street; MemorialCare Saddleback Medical Center on Health Center Drive in Laguna Hills; Foothill Regional Medical Center on Newport Avenue in Tustin; Orange County Global Medical Center on North Tustin Avenue in Santa Ana; and Providence Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo. Several ring florists share a ZIP or a street with one of these.
What can't go to an oncology or transplant floor?
+
Three categories. Lilies of any kind, because the pollen stains, drops and irritates patients on oxygen — most oncology units exclude them outright. Potted plants and anything in soil, because damp soil carries fungal spores that are genuinely dangerous to a neutropenic or bone-marrow-transplant patient in protective isolation; ask for a cut-flower design in a clean vase instead. And strong fragrance — stargazer lily, tuberose, heavy hyacinth or freesia — which is hard on someone nauseated from chemotherapy. Latex balloons are banned in nearly every hospital for allergy reasons, though mylar is usually accepted. Say the word oncology, transplant or isolation in the order notes and the florist builds inside those limits without you having to specify stems.
Can you deliver flowers to an ICU, NICU or labor and delivery?
+
Sometimes, and it depends entirely on the unit. Many intensive care units — adult and neonatal alike — do not allow flowers in patient rooms at all, for infection control and because the space around a bed is full of equipment. Some will accept an arrangement at the nursing station or hold it for the family in a waiting area, which is often the better gift anyway, since the family is the one who will see it. Labor and delivery and maternity floors usually do accept flowers, but pediatric oncology at CHOC does not follow maternity rules. The practical move is to send to the family's Irvine home or to a waiting-room contact, and to ask us to call the unit first.
What if I don't know the room number, or the patient gets discharged?
+
Give the patient's full name and the unit or floor, and the hospital will usually route the delivery internally — privacy rules mean a hospital often will not confirm to us that someone is admitted, but its own staff can move a clearly addressed arrangement. Discharge is the bigger risk: stays are short, and flowers that arrive an hour after someone goes home get held at a desk or returned. If the patient is likely to be discharged within a day, send to the home address instead. For an Irvine home, name the village and give a leasing office or a gate code, and add a phone number for the recipient or a family member.
How much does a get-well arrangement cost in Irvine?
+
The listed arrangements in this selection start at $32.49. Delivery charges, taxes and optional extras are confirmed for the selected florist and recipient before payment.
Can you deliver to someone recovering at home in Irvine?
+
That is a large share of the get-well volume here, largely because of how much outpatient and short-stay surgery happens on the Sand Canyon corridor. A patient home from Hoag Orthopedic, a Kaiser Irvine day procedure or a UCI Medical Center discharge is usually resting in a bedroom in Woodbridge, Northwood, University Park, Quail Hill or Portola Springs. Ask for a low, compact arrangement that can be seen over from bed and moved one-handed, in a vase light enough to refill at a bathroom sink. Give the village and the door detail — leasing office for an apartment community, gate code for Shady Canyon, Orchard Hills, Turtle Ridge, Laguna Altura or Altair — and a phone number in case nobody answers.
Can I send get-well flowers to a UCI student or a coworker's desk?
+
Yes to both. For a UCI student, deliver to the residence hall front desk rather than a room number — Mesa Court and Middle Earth both take deliveries at a staffed desk, and the UTC apartments across Campus Drive have their own offices. For a coworker out sick, the better option is usually their home; if they are working reduced hours in the office, the Spectrum and Great Park campuses in 92618 and the Von Karman, MacArthur and Michelson towers in the business complex all have reception desks that will accept an arrangement with a suite number and a contact name. Either way, keep the design compact and unscented in a shared workspace.
