Flowers for Herndon, VA

Picture the order that comes in most often here: someone downtown wants roses at a spouse's desk in one of the Dulles Tech buildings before the workday ends, and they want them arranged today, not shipped. That is Herndon in a sentence — a small, walkable historic town wrapped inside one of the densest technology corridors on the East Coast. The old railroad depot still stands where the W&OD Trail cuts through downtown, and Elden Street and the Town Green hold the coffee shops and the Friday-night concerts; a mile out, the office parks off the Dulles Toll Road and the Worldgate district run on contractor and tech schedules. Reston Hospital Center sits just over the line for get-well runs, and the neighborhoods off Herndon Parkway and toward Sugarland Run fill in the residential deliveries. A local designer here knows the town's compact grid and the corridor's rush-hour rhythm well enough to make an afternoon promise stick.
