Hazlet Township sits at the western end of the Monmouth County Bayshore, wrapped by Keyport to the west, Union Beach and Keansburg to the north, Middletown to the east, and Holmdel to the south. Two pieces of history explain almost every confused Hazlet delivery. The township was called Raritan Township until 1967, which is why its high school is Raritan and why the older name still surfaces in paperwork and conversation.
