Glen Ridge is a borough of about 1.3 square miles in Essex County, laid out along Ridgewood Avenue between Montclair and Bloomfield and known for the several hundred working gas street lamps that still light its sidewalks. Nearly the whole borough falls inside a National Register historic district, so the streets read as one continuous neighborhood rather than a downtown with suburbs attached: the Glen Ridge station on NJ Transit's Montclair-Boonton Line, the Glen Ridge Public Library and Freeman Gardens, Hurrell Field behind the high school, and the Glen Ridge Country Club all sit within a few blocks of the same avenue. The one address that trips people up here is the hospital. Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center sits on the Glen Ridge–Montclair boundary, and borough guidance describes it that way, but the hospital's own published destination is One Bay Avenue in Montclair. Use that, not Glen Ridge, and pair it with the patient's current unit.
