Gillette calls itself the Energy Capital of the Nation and means it — the largest coal mines in the country ring the town, gas and coalbed wells dot the Powder River Basin around it, and the workforce runs on twelve-hour rotations that quietly set the flower schedule. A bouquet here often has to hit a specific end of a shift: waiting on the doorstep when someone gets home from days, or arriving mid-morning after a run of nights. The built-up part of town is small and quick to cross, from the older grid near Gillette Avenue out to the newer rooftops off Southern Drive and Warlow, but the deliveries that define this place fan out past the city limits — front-office drops at the mines, get-well runs to Campbell County Health on West Eighth, and event orders to the sprawling CAM-PLEX grounds on the east side.
