In March 1946 Winston Churchill stood in the Westminster College gymnasium and named the Iron Curtain, and Fulton has carried an unusual weight for a town of twelve thousand ever since. A genuine Christopher Wren church — St. Mary the Virgin, Aldermanbury, blitzed in London — was moved here stone by stone in the 1960s and now holds the National Churchill Museum. Downtown, Court Street still runs on its original brick paving, which gives the Brick District its name and its wedding-photo backdrop. Flowers move along all of it: shop counters and law offices on Court Street, faculty desks at Westminster and William Woods, residents at Fulton Presbyterian Manor, and the family porches spreading out toward Stinson Creek.
