Who gets them in this county is fairly specific. The caregiver, first and most often — a spouse managing somebody else's appointments and medication, an adult daughter who moved down to help, the person everyone thanks verbally and nobody sends anything to. The neighbor who watched an empty house all summer, took in the mail, ran the water, and texted a photo after every storm, which in Lee County is a real job rather than a courtesy; the same goes for whoever showed up with a chainsaw or a ladder after a bad one blew through, since around here that is how neighborhoods actually work. Teachers and front-office staff: Fort Myers High on Cortez Boulevard, Dunbar High east of downtown, Canterbury School on College Parkway, Bishop Verot, and the county's elementary offices all take deliveries at a front desk, and a mid-year thank-you lands harder than an end-of-year one because nobody expects it. Then the transactional ones that are still genuinely nice: realtor closing gifts, of which there are a great many in a county this transient, and new-neighbor bouquets for the family that just unloaded a truck in ninety-degree heat.
The neighborhood geography is short enough to learn. Around downtown in 33901 sit Dean Park and Edison Park, 1920s streets of bungalows and old oaks a few blocks from the Caloosahatchee and the River District — Flowers Pot Florist at 4600 McGregor Blvd works that side. Further down McGregor in 33919 are Whiskey Creek and Town and River, where Zuly Flower's Design at 12715 McGregor Blvd Ste 2 is the nearest bench. Out at the Iona and Summerlin end in 33908, past Gulf Harbour toward Punta Rassa, Ajs Florist Ftmyers at 15271-15 McGregor Blvd covers the last stretch before the causeway. On the Cleveland Avenue side, 33907 holds south Fort Myers around College Parkway and the Bell Tower Shops, served by Nicksfortmyer's Florist at 4650 S Cleveland Ave and Fm Florist at 12000 S. Cleveland Ave, while Xpres's Floral at 4144 Cleveland Ave sits near the Edison Mall stretch. East and out: the Daniels corridor subdivisions in 33912, Gateway and the Treeline communities in 33913, and Dunbar in 33916 east of downtown. Gated streets need a name matching the association's list plus a lot or unit; older neighborhoods need nothing but a house number and a shaded place to set something down.
