Flowers for Avon Lake, OH

Picture the order that runs through Avon Lake most often: someone downtown or out of state wants flowers on a doorstep off Miller Road by dinner, and Sisson's Flowers — a block or two from the water — is the shop that makes it happen. That's the shape of this town. Avon Lake is long and thin, laid out along the Lake Erie shore in the northeast corner of Lorain County, with Lake Road threading the whole length from the Sheffield boundary to the Bay Village edge. The regular stops are the Beach Park and Aqua Marine streets by the water, the neighborhoods off Miller and Moore, the Walker Road stores, and the blocks near the high school and Weiss Field. Older landmarks — the Old Firehouse Community Center, the Folger Home, the churches on Electric Boulevard — mark the original core, while the newer subdivisions creep south toward Avon.
